Tom grew up in Rockland County, New York. During his junior and senior years of high school he read The Great Gatsby, listened to George Gershwin’s An American in Paris, and met Ellen. But it wasn’t until 8 years later when Tom and Ellen reunited in the summer of 2009 that he understood those three things to be the crux of his quest for self-knowing that he had been on for the majority of his 20s.
Released from that burden, Tom was then also able to cast off the shackles of an acting career where he played a stressed, anxious, and insecure version of himself.
Now he makes his living creating, writing, teaching, and talking about cocktails which allows him to dabble in his various passions for history, science, writing, culinary arts and leisure.* His tenants for a great drink are also his philosophy for life: they are best when balanced, varied, and enjoyed in moderation. He is a co-owner of Clover Club and Leyenda in Brooklyn.

*Tom also enjoys sports and exercise which, it turns out, cocktails do not provide an outlet for. For those he employs the New York Yankees and the 7-minute workout.
